Patriots/Jets 2.0

I've been a Cowboy's fan for as long as I can remember. Sitting around on Sunday afternoon with my dad watching the games is one of my fondest memories of childhood. My grandmother was a huge fan, and I remember her excitement when I went to a signing and had the players there sign a pennant for her. The glory days of 92-95 were great times to be a Cowboy fan, but now, I'm really kind of questioning what they are thinking.

Parcells has taken a team that had a decent future, and turned them into Patriots/Jets 2.0. It started with Terry Glenn, then came Keyshawn and Vinny, now we have at the helm the poster-boy for Parcells' draft ego in Drew Bledsoe. Parcells picked Bledsoe in the '93 draft, and gave him the keys to the kingdom in New England. However, is it any coincidence that once Bledsoe was benched and Brady took over that the Pats became the first team since the '92-'95 Cowboys to win 3 in 4 years? I don't think so.

Bledsoe is a 8 year younger version of Vinny, and not the player the Cowboys need to get back to becoming "America's Team". Heck, the other Drew has a better shot to lead the team back to greatness, and maybe even Tony Romo, but Parcells' ego is driving his decisions more than his coaching skills. All they need now is Laverneus Coles (another Parcells draft pick, and a more than probable acquisition in the next few weeks) and Curtis Martin, and they'll be set, right? Hey Bill, this isn't '93! These players you drafted may have been great in their day, but even great ones have declining skills. Look at Jerry Rice. The guy went from being the best receiver in the history of the game to the number 3 (sometimes 4) receiver on a team that had no real wide-out threat.

If Bledsoe doesn't pan out this year, and Bill is still reticent to play Henson, here's my suggestion: Play for the worst record in the league next year to ensure the #1 pick, and take Matt Leinart. I can't stand USC (especially after the whippin' they put on OU in the Orange Bowl), but Leinart looks to be the real deal. Then, fire Parcells, and hire Norm Chow from Tennessee and make him the coach. This would be a fresh start for the Cowboys with a first-year head coach who was brilliant as an offensive coordinator in college, and reunite him with Leinart, giving an instant rapport with the rookie. This would be a better track to the Super Bowl than the one they are on right now.

It's hard enough for the blogger to be the object of gossip by those around him or her, for all the things he or she had written frankly in the blogspot page; the ideas, the opinions, the personal stuff. So, being okay with a bit of ridicule is a small give-and-take home loans
